What Pensacola does to a window
Pensacola is wrapped in salt water on three sides. Pensacola Bay runs along the south edge of town from downtown out to Bayfront Parkway, Escambia Bay sits below the bluffs on Scenic Highway, and Bayou Texar cuts right up through East Hill. The wind comes off the bay most afternoons and carries a salt mist across the waterfront streets, so the glass on Bayfront Parkway, along Scenic Highway and on the bayou side of East Hill and Cordova Park picks up a dull film within a few weeks. Downtown and North Hill get a lighter version, but it still shows on the big front windows of the old houses when the sun comes in low.
Away from the water the trees take over. East Hill, North Hill, Cordova Park and Scenic Heights sit under some of the oldest live oaks and longleaf pines in the state, and every March the pollen comes down yellow enough to coat porches, cars and screens in a day. The shade keeps north-facing glass damp through the shoulder seasons, which means mildew on the sills and lanai screens in the older neighborhoods. How often should windows be cleaned in Pensacola?

Can you clean the old wood windows in East Hill and North Hill?
Yes. A lot of the houses in the historic neighborhoods have original wood sash and divided-light glass, and we clean them by hand pane by pane rather than with poles. Tell us on the quote form that the house is older and we will plan the time for it.
Can you get the yellow pollen out of the screens and tracks?
Yes. Screens and tracks are part of the clean, and in spring that is where most of the pollen ends up after the rain washes it off the glass. Customers on a plan usually have us come in April so the pollen is gone before summer.
